P is for Pagan

noun
1. (no longer in technical use) one of a people or community observing polytheistic religion, as the ancient Romans and Greeks.
2. a member of a religious, spiritual, or cultural community based on the worship of nature or the earth; a neopagan.
3. Disparaging and Offensive.

  1. (in historical contexts) a person who is not a Christian, Jew, orMuslim; a heathen.
  2. an irreligious or hedonistic person.
  3. an uncivilized or unenlightened person

The above is the dictionary.com definition of Pagan. And it is true. Those of us that follow a polytheistic religion call ourselves Pagan even though it used to be just an insult. Now most of us are just like ‘whatever’ lol.

Most of us Pagans are nature lovers, peaceful, and do our best to not harm others.  I say ‘do our best’ because 1) we are human, we are NOT perfect and are not always going to be nice and 2) Most of us walk what we call a Balanced Path. We know that good cannot exist without bad BUT we do more good than bad and the bad is only when it is protecting those we love.

We are NOT EVIL. We DO NOT worship Satan…most of us don’t even believe there is a Satan.  We do ‘cast’ spells…but they are just like prayers…we just happen to add candles, incense, herbs, and crystals to help put a bit of ‘oomph’ behind some of them.

Sadly there are still many  people that fear us, hate us, and commit violence (or want to) against us.  Hopefully one day we can all exist together without any hate and fear. Just because someone is different than you, is a different color, or practices a different religion than you does NOT give you permission to be a jerk towards them, condemn them to Hell, or tell us that that our religion is wrong and yours is right.

So please..if you read this and you are an educated person, PLEASE, educate yourself more on Paganism, our various belief systems, our gods, and our ethics..We are just like you, we just look at things a bit differently and are a bit closer to Nature than most 😉

~Namaste and Blessings~
